In the year 2000 Russ had the honor of being a special guest performer at Country Music Hall of Famer, Buck Owens birthday party in Bakersfield, California! 

Russ has had the priviledge of performing with legendary Buck Owens and the Buckaroos at Buck's Crystal Palace nightclub in Bakersfield, California on several different occasions - "This is without a doubt my greatest honor and the biggest thrill of my life" - Russ 

Mr. Jack Greene personally asked Russ to be a special guest performer at the Jack Greene Celebrity Golf Tournament and Concert in Johnson City, Tennessee in the year 2001. Russ considers this a great honor to be thought enough of to be selected as a performer among such country music legends performing at and in attendance of this event.

Russ performed with everyone's favorite twin brothers, the legendary "Hager Twins" from "HEE HAW" fame, onstage in Johnson City, Tennessee. 

Russ , along with country music legend Red Simpson, was the feature entertainment at Mr. Mack Wimbish's Sheriff Election Campaign Headquarters in Kern County, California in the year 2002. 

Russ was requested to perform at the famous "Cowboy Palace" Nightclub in Los Angeles, California in 2002, and was invited back for a return performance

Russ is a featured gues on the Johnston Community College Country Music Showcase every year, for about the last 13 years straight in Smithfield, NC.

Russ is also a regular performer on the Carolina Music Showcase Show in Goldsboro, NC.

Russ has been a reoccuring guest on the "Just By Chance and Friends Country Music Show" in Dunn, NC for some years now.

Russ is the former host of the "Carolna Country Radio Show" on WMPM 1270AM in Smithfield, NC.

Russ hosted his own TV show "The Russ Varnell Show" on WHIG TV Channel 17 out of Rocky Mount, NC that was broadcast every week for four years. Russ started production of his new show on WHIG TV by popular demand from his many  loyal fans & viewers of the TV show and music in March.  He decided to create a brand new TV show on WHIG TV to promote REAL country music performers called the Russ Varnell REAL Country Music Show.

Russ was the 1st Runner-up out of 50 contestants at the 2002 Colgate Country Showdown in North Carolina.

Russ has been featured on the "Hometown Music Connection - Country Music Show" in Benson, NC several different times.

Russ performed on the Legendary Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree Radio Show on 2 Different Occassions in fact just as recent as January of 2009 as a special guest with Opry Legend Stonewall Jackson that was broadcast on 650 WSM AM. Russ was hired to be apart of a huge Country Music Show at the World Famous Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Russ already has been asked for a return performance in Las Vegas in the near future. 

Russ was a performer at The Dale Earnhardt Special Memorial Service at the Southern National Speedway.

Russ Varnell's latest CD "Playin' Every Honky Tonk in Town" was awarded the very rare award of being declared the Album of the Week Award in the country of Belgium!!! WOW!!! Looks like ol' Russ has gone INTERNATIONAL!!! Also since winning the album of the week award in Belgium, Russ' music has been broadcast on the airwaves in such places as Canada & Australia winning & reaching Russ new fans all over the world!!!!

Russ was honored this year to have a spotby special invitation to be a featured artist at 2 highlight events - the Buck Owens Birthday Bashes in Nashville, Tennessee & Austin, Texas.

Russ won 1st place again this year at the 2007 NC State Fair Folk Festival in the Male Vocalist Category out of about 80 contestants!

Russ Varnell was awarded 1st place in the 2008 NC State Fair Fok Festival in the Male Vocalist Category for the 2nd year BACK to BACK & the 5th time OVERALL!!!

Russ Varnell was awarded 1st place in the 2009 NC State Fair Fok Festival in the Male Vocalist Category for the 3rd Year in a Row & the 6th time OVERALL!!!

Graham Brown, Stella Parton, Rockabilly Legend and Sun Record Star Sleepy LaBeef, Nathan Stanley and his band, Paul Fincham and Dark Hollow, Loose Gravel, Hollow Band and The Lewis Tradition for Sunday Morning Gospel Hour in Sperryville, VA!
